These replaced original, never rebuilt, calipers on my 84 Westy… after my first failure when drivers side seal failed and started leaking at 190k miles. I’ve owned my Westy since 1987, so I know they were original. Didn’t want to take a chance on rebuilt, as I didn’t know the history. Did these new callipers replace rebuilt callipers that were faulty or worn? e.g. leaking or seized? i.e. was the quality of these new callipers just that much better than a rebuilt that it resulted in better brakes? I recently had a calliper hardware part fail. New hardware wasn't easily available so I "broke down" and replaced the rebuilts with "new" rebuilts. Though the brakes work ok, brakes feel identical to what they were before. i have to wonder if a new part would be an improvement. Thanks Neil. I did have to modify the brake line to make them fit right, but it was cheap and easy with a replacement rigid line from my FLAPS. -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of pickle vanagon Sent: Wednesday, June 27, 2018 11:29 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: new calipers (e.g., from busdepot)?
