Hi list,
I recently received a vanagon battery holder thing. Thanks Jim. I’m assuming this will bolt in at the top of the battery and push down on it to hold in place.
If I’m wrong please let me know.
I have the GO West battery behind the driver’s seat and it has a holder like that.
Interestingly. Now that I have the thing in my hands and understand it I don’t know why people don’t use it. My battery didn’t have one. It also had a worn wire coming off the battery that was worn through the outer layer as the battery shifted and rubbed in the battery compartment.
But here is my other question. Were similar holders used on bay windows and buses? I have a part that was given to me along with other older bus parts. He said it was a battery clamp. It feels a lot like the vanagon one only wider I thing the bolt is even the same. I vaguly think from my days with busses that it would have clamped to the bottom of the battery.
Is this basically the same thing but now holds at the top?
I’m glad to use the smaller original Vanagon one, but was a little tempted to use the old Bay or splitty one just for fun!
