everything was fine until I took the box cover off for the shifting lever under the floor  it was full of hardened grease, cleaned and re greased.  Now  first gear  is touchy to get into,  but all the other gears are fine. I did remove the cast track for

first and second and reverse and noticed that one of the holes for the mounting bolts was  a slot from the factory and just put it back where I thought it was before.

what does that adjustment do?  none of the other linkage was touched?
