Subject:Re: Wheel Squeal? Prevent a Tow

Hi Eric;Pull the wheel off and check the condition of your pads.  When they get thin, many, on purpose. will start to squeal.  This lets you know you need to replace them.  While in there, make sure your calipers are operating easily and freely.  Poke around (you have good fingers) to be sure nothing is broken, caught, missing, etc.
Good Luck;Dave B.

Hi Alex,

Darn, I meant to be a good describer of symptoms!

It seems to be the front passenger side that makes the noise and is warmer then the other 3 wheels.

rear drums were recently replaced with GW heavy dudy drums.

They still shudder  now and then when used but this was happening ever sense I got them back from the work done.

So, I’m suspecting front wheel for the sound. Rear drom for my break shutter.

I’m more worried about the squeal at this point.

Please keep the ideas coming.

I don't think you mentioned whether it was a front or rear wheel that
was suspect, but I had similar symptoms that were due to a broken
spring loose and grinding down inside a rear drum.  After pounding and
prying the drum off, it was an easy fix with a replacement spring kit.
