Subject:Re: Renewing crusty foam underneath Engine Lid

Sorry, I would totally take the shop to task for mixing up your engine
lids. Essentially they replaced your lid with another of inferior
quality. WTH. Your fairly pristine lid must be somewhere, I would demand
that you get it back.

Given that this conversion was done three years ago, I'd say that
recovering?? your original lid is highly unlikely. The good condition may
likely be the reason your lid was replaced in the first place.

My $0.02,
Chuck

So the one I've got now is kinda crusty. Drops fragments of crusty foam onto my engine. I'd like to fix/improve. One idea I have is to use the acrylic deck coating (from Home Depot) I used to rejuvenate my upstairs deck in my condo; it's "rubbery"....i.e. flexible...and surely can withstand heat. The stuff I have is tan in color; I guess that's OK....black would be better (I could use the brush-on tan acrylic deck coating, and then add a rattle can coating of flat black spray paint). Mostly, I want something that will hold the foam together and stop the debris from falling down on my motor. Ideas?
