A little bit off topic but for all the money we have invested in these beasts why not have comprehensive insurance which usually includes glass insurance?
The automotive glass service industry seems to work in the shadows. Safelight windshields often have their name branded on the glass as if they made it.   Was that price installed and with a gasket? If so that is not too bad. Labor alone is a huge chunk of that.
