Not resolved yet. I had the convertor on the engine, will disassemble the lot and try it the other way. If not, is the torque converter disconnected from the flex plate? It should be so that it can slide forward. If trying to put this together with the converter attached to the engine the splines for the pump drive could be misaligned. The trans pump drive is easily damaged from this method. Dennis
