This has been discussed much.  Eric Caron can jump in.  But in my experience, anything Apple or iCloud or some off-brand....and Gerry (Vanagon List) kicks up a fuss.
gmail always seems pretty solid....Ed, you might want to go for a free account from them.  Other folks too.  We don't mind experimenting with you to get it right.
