Subject:Re: Screens for Westy roof scuppers

Hey jim,

I did that mod a few years ago and it works to keep debris out from under the rack. Perhaps it works too well. My van is daily driver, parked outside all weather. And I live on a farm, so there is often stuff in the air :-)

I found the screen gets blocked with dirt and in the damp months, algae or something. So it’s not unusual that, on rainy days, I get a deluge of water slopping over the front of the rack and down onto the windscreen when I stop to open the driveway gate.

:-)

Just a heads up. Have a peek at the screens once in a while and remove any stuff covering the mesh.

When this happens the depression in the rack fills with rainwater which takes a day or so to drain out. Worse, the water and debris slops over the side and down the front windows when I make a turn.
