Hi Eric - I have a rubberized outdoor carpet that sits flat between the rear cushion and the hatch. It covers most of the steel area of the rear hatch and seems to work fairly well at reducing vibration noise and engine compartment sounds. I often wonder if it adds any heat increase to the engine compartment. The carpet can also be used for laying out in front of the sliding door when stopped and in the camping set-up.
