Wow! Great job. You will be out enjoying late summer and fall weather soon. Yes, that lifter noise does make me a bit crazy at times. Even with my fully rebuilt engine I sometimes get it. For a couple weeks it happened at every start up. Last three start ups it was almost not there. So I’m hoping for more quiet start ups. So glad to hear the Alistair van is up and running again. Now to hear about some camping adventures! Eric > On Aug 8, 2021, at 1:05 PM, Alistair Bell <albell@SHAW.CA> wrote: > > Hi, > > And Eric, pmail coming soon! > > Got my van back together and running. Boy I hate initial start up of engine that’s been out of van and fooled with. Yup, more than a couple of lifters had bled down. Makes you think you’ve done something radically wrong. > > I’ll get some pics of the things I’ve done posted to the blog in a bit. But one thing unexpected was finding a separating spring perch and broken lower bump stop on drivers side. Maybe the spring shifting was causing that mystery clunk I’ve been hearing once in a while? > I’ll find out as I’ve made new spring perches. > > See here on blog > https://shufti.blog/2021/08/08/vanagon-new-rear-spring-perches/ > > Alistair
