Success ! ! ! thank you all ... Mark and Olrivrrat point me in the right direction... I took the white plastic connector out and used 2 wires with alligator clips and connected them to the 2 spades on the coil... and... hurah.. the tachometer works again !!! It turns out that one one the female spades in the white connector doesn't stay in place when I put it on the coil... it moves back inside the white connector.... so now I have to figure out how to block it... you guys are wonderful and made my day... :-) dan On Tue, Aug 31, 2021 at 7:44 AM OlRivrRat <OlRivrRat@comcast.net> wrote: > On 30 Aug , 2021, at 10:56 AM, Dan N <dn92610@GMAIL.COM> wrote: > > > > “ if the pair of wires in the large white plastic connector (at the 2 > prongs post) are reversed, the > > van cranks but won't start.” > > This would indicate that Somehow 1 of those 2 Spades on the Coil + > Post is Not making > > connection to the Coil ~ Not quite sure how that can happen but I would be > inclined to do a > > Continuity Test from each of those Spades to the Post they are supposed to > be nutted onto & > > also from Spade to Spade ~ > > Or possibly 1 of the Spades is not Straight Up & Down / Parallel to > the Other so that when > > 1 makes a connection the other 1 can’t ~ So if the Green Wire that > provides pulse from the ECU > > to the Coil is connected then it will start but the Green Wire, which goes > to Tach does not get that ~ > > pulse ~ Actually vaguely recall having seen this some time in the past ~ > > Also,, If the Spades are Straight & Parallel to 1 another then > look inside the White Connecter > > to see if 1 of the Female QuickConnects is out of proper position ~ Sorry > about thinking so slow on > > My feet & in Bits&Pieces on this,, got a bunch going on ~
