The cat. converter on my van makes a lot of noise. I have some options...

1. Replace it.

Since where I live there's NO smog check, I could:
2. Remove it and replace it with a straight pipe.
3. Take it out and remove the innards and put it back on.

Is there any harm or gain to the performance of the 2.1 WBX with the
options 2 or 3? (except for the environment)
