Hi Vanagon folks,

        Can the locking strip around the windshield be removed without affecting the integrity of the window seal or safety.

Mine is so darn ugly and tired I’d just like to remove it. 

I’d prefer not to replace it just make it go away. 

Any experience or info on this?

If I wait long enough it may just go on it’s own.  I think the gap where it comes together has doubled in size in 8 years.
