Hi folks,
So Tom Bues and I are home after flying to Florida and picking up a well loved and well traveled 84 Westfalia.
We were picked up at the airport by the previous owners and driven a hour to the van.
We had a little time to talk and pack up the van then off we went.
First night, camp out in the Super Walmart to sleep but also to get all needed for travel and camping.
We checked the van and the oil seemed ok and the coolant down a bit.
Filled coolant and started a 375 mile drive for our first stop at a KOA in SC.
We were warned that there was a idle issue. And, there was.
Tom has the same van and experience of decades driving it. He managed to deal with the van wanting to stall at every stop and kept us moving.
So, later we did find a way to stop the van from stalling and diagnose that issue.
So, list , any ideas of what to check for a van stalling at stops and otherwise seeming to run well?
Problem solution was mentioned by my friend art over the phone, Tom, and camp ground folks at a vW event.
What is your guess?
Eric Caron
