As said before, 4 years ago I started out to do a Subie conversion on my '88 GL, but somewhere just after midstream, I found it necessary to replace it.. I took on a 1991 Carat that wasn't in the best of shape mechanically. Interestingly, it had in it the very last Boston Bob Engine he ever built. It only had 50,000 miles on it. BUT, i was well into that Subaru engine and decided to continue. I had been injured in several different ways and could no longer do the job myself, so I worked a trade with a fellow I knew who had done a number of conversions. He got the BB engine and he would give me a turnkey job. That's what I got. And he did a jam up good job, too. In the bargain I got a complete front end rebuild. Before the engine went in, I had it completely rebuilt. All new bearings, including mains, new rings, heads, valves, guides. All the internals. So if these are 300,000 mile engines, I'll prol'ly give up the ghost before it does. Work on the van continues. Power windows have been fixed. Working the electric door locks now. Put in a new headlight switch. Soon to get a Jay Brown headlight relay kit and install it. It's getting new GoWesty led shifter lights. So the fun continues. Still much to do. but relatively simple stuff. I best get on with it.
