Sold my '86 Westy a few years ago with the idea I'd get a 1st gen Boxster
project... I had a 914 in my late teens and was looking to rekindle that
mid engine roadster fire. A 2003 BMW Z4 came my way when a friend's dad
died of covid and they made me an offer I couldn't pass up. He had bought
it brand new as a retirement gift to himself.  I autocrossed stock class
VWs for about 25 years and this car has brought me back to that sport.

The only car I ever bought new was a 2002 Golf TDI which I sold a few years
ago with 280k miles on it.  Replaced it with a 2011 Chevy Volt as my daily
driver. In my typical driving I get about 130mpg.  I sometimes use it as a
camper, er tent really.  nice that with a full battery or plugged in you
can run the hvac all night.
