Yeah, it's the same for me, those words to 'lubricate everything' stick
with me every time I work on one. I had a friend's 1984 Wolfsburg Westy
in a couple years ago, several 'professional' shops couldn't figure out
some basic electrical and cooling system issues, and had applied
numerous bandaids and disconnected things to avoid dash lights, so she
begged me to look it over. When I had finished that part of the job and
while running it stationary to cycle the fan and ensure all the air was
out of the cooling system, I thought of Scott because every single item
on that van had never been lubed, it was horrible! Door latches tight,
hinges tight, locks difficult, sliding door handle and rollers so
incredibly tight that it took a huge effort to open, heater cables
almost inoperable. So right there I said 'I'm doing the full Scott
treatment on this van right now!'. The transformation amazed even me,
but even moreso this gal friend who had owned the van over 20 years and
claimed 'it was always like this'.
Keep passing on his wisdom.
