Mike, Check your O2 sensor- my middle brother's Rabbit had its Catalyst go China Syndrome after the O2 sensor failed. O2 sensor fails deadly- it tells the injection to go richer, and the poor cat tries to burn all that fuel... which it does, but it gets AWFULLY HOT! Bill
