I just picked up the June issue of VWT&A (Without much T&A anymore...), and read DL's `A VW-related Internet Newsgroups & Mailing Lists primer'. A lot of it sounded AWFULLY familiar. :) Here's something that I post to rec.autos.vw occasionally, see if you can see the resemblance to the article: =========begin excerpt=========================================== Hello! it's time again for the weekly posting of the [A]ircooled mailing lists again! REMEMBER THIS: After you subscribe to one of the lists below, you will get an automated response from the mailserv!!! _*SAVE THE INFORMATION THAT YOU GET!!!!!*_ IT TELLS YOU HOW TO UNSUBSCRIBE!! IT IS IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO WRITE DOWN THIS INFORMATION!!! `nuff said. To subscribe to the vintage vw mailing list, send a post to: LISTSERV@SJSUVM1.sjsu.edu, with `subscribe VINTAGVW Your Name' in the BODY of the message. Covers: bug, ghia, and everything but busses. But it will get the occasional bus post, too. DO NOT POST FOR SALE ITEMS IN THIS GROUP! To subscribe to the vanagon mailing list, send a post to: listserv@lenti.med.umn.edu with `subscribe vanagon Your Name' in the BODY. *all* type of bricks/transporters from 1949 to 1995. A (fairly) new list! The Karmann Ghia mailserv!!! Send an email message to: Karmann-ghia-request@alphavil.demon.co.uk With Subscribe or help in the subject. The THING registry! (It's NOT a mailing list, I'm told.) It's an active list of owners, for parts, swaps, whatever...? THING-request@rush.cc.edu with `subscribe thing' in the body. The aircooled vw mailserver! A pretty low volume list, mainly for buying/ selling stuff. Send mail to: ^^^^^POST FOR SALE HERE^^^ mailserv@cc.owu.edu with SUBSCRIBE aircldvw in the body. Leave subject BLANK. Eric Oster (ekoman@u.washington.edu) ======================end excerpt============================== Hmm. I don't know wether to be disgusted at a lack of writing talent, or just sit back and be amused. <g>. Eric Oster (ekoman@u.washington.edu)
