Yes, I had a similar problem on my 86 Jeep Grand Wagoneer.  Turned out to be
a poor connection at the solenoid.  Check that you have good, clean, tight
connections throughout the ignition system.  Other posibilities could be the
voltage regulator and/or the alternator.
