I found to following link to a Parts Distributor for Vanagon Automatic Transmissions

http://www.zstarr.com/impex/trans.htm

IMPEX Foreign Auto Parts
P.O. Box 539
Parkton, Maryland 21120
Phone: 1-800-736-3550

I called them and they offer a NEW Vanagon Automatic with differential and torque convertor for
$1,295.00 with a 6 month warranty. He said they had 2 or 3 in stock.

Just passing on the information - this is not an endorsement.
