Our favorite toy is sickIt's a 1987 VW Vangon Syncro AdventureWagen. Recently (2 months ago) had white smoke so we replaced heads along with clutch ignition wires, tune up items and some misc. stuff to the tune of 2K. SYMPTOMS: We were having intermittent loss of power for long time. Now we have ---Rough idle and stalling, power seems to cut in and out like throwing a switch. Sometimes it runs fine. Doesn't seem to be a pattern except that it is running badly more often now (almost all of the time). Air Box and Oxygen Sensor was replaced last year. Disconnecting Oxygen Sensor doesn't help. When it is at it's worst, engine will not go over 3400 RPM floored in neutral. We are considering replacing the fuel injectors. Do you think this could be the computer or what? Synchro has 190,000 on it. Engine was replaced before we got it from PO, so we don't know how old the engine parts are.
