I went through this a year ago when I had a 4 sp and wanted an auto. Apart from the problem of finding an auto gearbox with most of the parts attached ie a sizeable chunk of car, every mechanic I asked advised that they could not do it for less than half a week's work. In the end I sold the 4sp and bought an auto and I am very very happy with the swap. In terms of economics it seems buying and selling is cheaper than buying a gearbox and employing someone half a week to modify the car. Lionel Tun 1984 Caravelle GL auto 193k miles ark@saqnet.co.uk
