I'm confused. Still looking for a very good vanagon, I've been to some traders in Wolfsburg yesterday to look what kind of busses they've got for sale. One had a '90 Bluestar (as hannover edition) TD with an ABT intercooler fitted, quite rare conversion. The condition was not too good, so I looked at the next trader. There was a '90 Turbo-Diesel AUTOMATIC for sale. I thought, they made a mistake on the 4sale-sticker and had a good look on it- IT WAS AUTOMATIC TD! Up to yesterday I was sure VW never made this combination and always thought, a conversion couldn't be done because of the complete different shapes of the flywheel / torque-converter houses. But there it is. The car was not good enough for what I want to do with it, but what is it? Can anybody tell me, what I've seen? Is it possible to install a straight 4 (or 5) VW engine to the automatic tranny in the vanagon? Are there any kits available? Helmut, what do you think? Many thanks for your help Michael Meier Braunschweig (20 mls from Wolfsburg) 58 westy Die Blindschleiche 77 westy Das neue Modell 74 412 auto 4-door saloon Der Nasenbaer 96 golf cabrio nameless
