Ok -- All this talk of piston slap has gotten my attention!

I have recently purchased a '93 Westfalia with a 2.5l 5 cylinder engine!  It
makes a little (30 seconds) noise on start up on cold mornings then all is
well!  It has 57,000 km (about 34,000 miles) on it and otherwise is in
fantastic shape.

What are the symptoms - how long does the noise persist?  Would it STILL be
covered by warranty?
