Ed (Heather?)
Kennedy Engineered Products is located in Palmdale, CA. They build VW
engine adapter pieces and kits; also are highly regarded as clutch
builders for hipo, off-road, and racing type VWs. They can sell you
adapters to put almost any engine in your VW. You will need to have a
bit of mechanical savvy, but the results can be most gratifying. (I've
done two Buick V6 conversions.) Phone is 805-272-1147, mention your
Vanagon for related info.
