Vanagoneers, Today I received a big ole box from the British Isles and inside was my Haynes manual for Wasserboxers. It's great - everything logically arranged and described in COMPLETE ENGLISH SENTENCES (unlike another Vanagon manual that we all know and love!). Let me tell you that I am somewhat of a manual nut - I usually have two service manuals for the vehicles that I own. My preferences are one Bentley manual and a Haynes manual. The Bentley providing the 'factory' repair procedure and the Haynes shoing how to do it with a woodblock and a brick. I just have never come to appreciate (or for that matter use) the 'new' Bentleys nearly as much as their older format manuals. I'd been searching for a Haynes manual for Vanagons for some time and finally learned that they were going to be available, in England only, in 1998 so I ordered one from Haynes direct. I highly recommend it, although in my opinion it should be used as a suppliment to the Bentley. If you are interested Haynes url is: http://www.haynes.com The manual number is 3452 and covers 1913 & 2109 cc water-cooled Transporter (Vanagon) from '82 to '90. The price? Well, by the time you get it here it will be about 23 pounds or $38.00. Sam Bateman '87 Vanagon GL (now with 2 service manuals)
