Kudo's to Ron for setting up the archive! We will continue to provide new
services for the list as time permits.

Speaking of list funds. Ron & I have reversed roles of sorts. Since he now
has the list server on-site, he'll be making purchases for the server.
That is he'll be spending funds, so I'll now be collecting them. This way
we have a "checks-n'-balances', accounting for funds received and funds
spent are in two seperate hands. In some repects this is a pain in the
derriere, but it avoids "questions" (if you catch my drift). You can send
donations to:

San Diego Supercomputer Center
University of California
P.O. Box 85608
San Diego, CA 92186-5608

This is how the system works (as it has in the past). I receive and cash
the checks and Ron posts the current tally on the web site. Ron makes
purchases (usually out of pocket!) and sends me receipts for which I (we,
the list!) reimburse him. All of these transactions are posted on the
vanagon web site: http://www.vanagon.com/

The current reserve is $201.14.

This amount is a tad on the low side. We would like to carry a reserve of
at least $500. This reserve is important in that it provides for necessary
preventative maintenances, repairs and software upgrades. And in extreme
cases, when/if the machine goes down due to a hardware problem, it's too
late to start raising funds. Think of it as having money in the bank on
that rainy day!
