Good God, Bacchus, I hope what I think isn't true. I thought a car I was driving at the time had a noisy lifter, and it had that diesel-type sound- turned out it was throwing a rod!!!! If there is absolutely nothing wrong with your lifters after a second opinion, it looks like some case-splittin' fun. I certainly hope this isn't the case, but don't be surprised. I've got my fingers crossed for you. :( Best of luck, and I hope I'm wrong, Sam ---BACCHUS761 <BACCHUS761@AOL.COM> wrote: > > I just put a new set of heads on a '84 VANAGON, I have never done a vanagon > watercooled before but done many air cooled, everything went ok (what a bitch > to put the cylinders back on) it started right up but with a noisy ticking > noise, almost like a disel engine noise, I think it could be a stuck lifter, I > adjusted the valves to hydrolic specs, this noise can't be good, any > suggestions? can you remove these lifters while the engine is together?? > _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!?
