Hi Volks:

Trouble with the Wife's '90 Jetta (42,000 - this car's never had a hard
day in its life). We just experienced a sudden problem that sounds/seems
transmission related. We took it to the local VW fixer, who tells us we
need a new main bearing and gear box.  Then he quotes us up to $300 for
labor, $700 for parts! Can this be real? Or is he funding his children's
college fund?
