Well, yes and no.  Depends on the color.

In 89 Syncro Westies were qavailable in the following colors:
Pastel White
Dove Blue Metallic
Titian Red Metallic
Wolfram Grey Metallic

The metallic colors are clearcoat type paint, while the Pastel White color is
not.
