Subject:Propane tank rust removal update
From:Frank Condelli

Thanks to everyone who responded advising me to remove the tank for
cleaning and painting. It was quite easy to get out from under there.
Now there is another problem. Seems like the tank is pretty badly rusted
especially where the data plate "was" welded on. I say "was" as the welds had
broken or rusted and the rust corosion under this plate has taken away
quite a bit of metal and the metal of the tank is definiely thinner in
this area. I'm taking it to a local propane outfit today or tomorrow to
get his opion but I'm sure he'll tell me to replace the tank which leads
me to my next question. Where does one find a "good" deal on a propane
tank for a "87 Westy ? The never ending story of Westy renovations !

Cheers

Frank
