My scirocco was ticking me off yesterday big time. I hosed some brake fluid off the master cylinder, and then it would not start. I got out my CRC contact cleaner and started spraying the ignition pickup at the distributor. It is just like the vans, has a plastic plug that holds water. That did not do it, it still would not start. The dist cap was dry underneath. I finally disconnected the ground side wires on the coil and dryed them with the CRC. Started up first pull. I would say disconnect all ignition related wires, clean them and coat connectors in some kind of electrical grease. -----Original Message----- From: The Martins <nitram@TBCNET.COM> To: Vanagon@VANAGON.COM <Vanagon@VANAGON.COM> Date: Friday, May 01, 1998 7:23 AM Subject: Soggy Wx - No Start >My 85 Vanagon starts and runs great in most weather, including hard rain, >but it refuses to start on very humid mornings, such as fog. >Any ideas ? > >Thanks, >Larry
