Subject:Ignition Coil(s) Differences
From:Thomas D. Hanlon

Listees,

I may need a new coil for 84 Westfalia, 1.9 L engine. Haynes (UK) Manual
differentiates between green sticker and gray sticker coil versions.
The green sticker secondary resistance is specified at 2.4 to 3.5 k
ohms.
The gray sticker secondary resistance is specified at 6.9 to 8.5 ohms.
The primary resistance specification "(typical)' is given as 0.5 to 0.8
ohms.
The present coil is green stickered. What is the functional difference
between the two? And how does the green /gray difference affect the
system? Are the coils interchangeable?

Thanks,

Tom Hanlon
