Its an inverted nut thingee that I need a like 17mm bolt socket to remove, right? I know I ain't gots no allen wrench that big [grin]! Is that bolt what I'd use to both drain the manual transmission AND fill it? For drain, it seems high, and for fill it seems low. Either way its a bitch to get to!! The Bentley's has a decent man transmission diagaram but is weak on poiunting out the plugs. I've only found one for the manual, making me think that one bolt is for both fill and drain. Also looks like I have an oil leak near the oil pump somewhere. Its making my rear skid plate wet with oil. Tough to see where exactly but thats what it looks like. Thanks for your help! Bill "Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right" Hunter/Garcia >> Ok Hunter, your rear trans has a drain hole and a fill hole. The one that's by the shift selector is your fill hole, the one on the bottom of the trans is the drain hole. Drain the fluid, put the drain plug back on (requires a 17mm allen wrech), fill the trans with some good synthectic gear oil, fill until it runs out, put the drain plug back on. The same service is required for the front differential also, same layout, one drain hole on the bottom, and one fill hole on the side, fill until it runs out. Hope this helps, Michael M. 87 syncro.
