Somehow owning the VW caused the kid to become crazy and kill his parents?

Maybe the parents were listmembers and spent all their time reading list mail,
and or working on the Vanagon, and ignored the kid?

Scary thought.

Well time to go hide the guns and spend some time with the kids.
