I was driving up Hwy 18 near Tiger summit (near Seattle WA) in a loaner 1998 VW Jetta, then I came upon a Vanagon. This van was a 70's or earlier (sorry I don't know my vanagons), and was the pickup style. It had dual doors on each side and a canapy on the back. It also sat nose down. The mystery part is that the vanagon was going over 70 mph up hill. Every time a car moved out of its way or we came out of a corner it was easily out accelerating the Jetta. When we hit I-90 I finally let the vanagon pull away alittle. Of course I was doing 95 mph at the time and didn't have much of a choice (I really don't need another ticket). I caught the vanagon when it was slowing for and off ramp. I think the driver knew I was trying to look at his van, because he just glanced over and smiled. I vangon didn't sound like a normal VW, although I don't know what one sounds like going 95+ mph. It also had two exhuast pipes coming out the back in the center (if that makes any difference). Anyways, is it safe to assume this is not a stock VW? Christopher Quijano
