-- [ From: John H. Rodgers * EMC.Ver #2.5.02 ] -- I agree. On my '85 GL I was having the blinking light problem. Then I stated losing coolant. Expansion tank was wet. I looked at the coolant sensor at least 4 times. Never saw a thing. But on the fourth look spotted a crack. Coolant would leak out, level would drop, light would come on. Anyway, I replaced the sensor, no more problem. If I purchase a new guage from the dealer, will it suffer from shelf age and go out the same way?>> I doubt the gauge is the problem. Other listees have suggested a couple of other reasons for the erratic blinking red light, however, I have seen (thrice) my coolant level/temp sensor fail, causing this blinking. The sensor cracks between the two contacts (small crack, almost invisible to the naked eye). Coolant then forms a short between the contacts or between the plug and the sensor. Replace your sensor. gmbulley cary, nc -------- REPLY, End of original message --------
