had the windows tinted professionally on my non a/c syncro w/  great
results.  i still have to take the sliders out though so that the tint
guy can do them again.  first try was not perfect at the wipe.
significant drop in interior temp w/  the tint.  modern oem tint is
not a film of any type but rather an electroplate done between layers
of the safety glass.  it is far superior but can only be done at the
factory.  primary purpose is to aid the a/c that is less efficient at
cooling now that freon is a thing of the past.  check out the tint in
a new pathfinder for instance.  slightly mirrored from the outside,
light tint from the inside.  virtually scratch proof as well.
