Dan, I have been running my 86 Syncro with the idle stabilizer control unit out for about six months. The valve is still in. Only problem is that it won't idle until it warms up. Looking at the i.s.c.u., I can't see anything that is burned or looks bad. Now I'm wondering if the valve is bad and unplugging the i.s.c.u. took the valve out of the loop and if I replace the valve and reinstall the i.s.c.u., then all will be well again. although I have a multi-meter, I don't have a clue as to how it works, so I haven't checked the valve for "specified value" per Bentley.
