Steve,

I have the same problem on my 84, sounds like the engine is going to do a
flip.  I tried replacing the four engine mounts on the support bar, didn't
help.  It did stop my exhaust from hitting against the support bar which was
adding to the noise, but didn't fix the shuddering.

Would the cheapest way to go would be to start with motor mounts first?
Should I be looking for a lot of play in the mounts? The engine seems to
rock a bit.
