Apologies for the non-vanagon content.
I'm in contact with someone who has a 77 Beetle for sale in Shelton, CT. This
is a four hour drive for me, so before I make the trip, I was hoping someone
out there can do a bit of advance scouting for me. Failing that, does anyone
have a reputable shop I could take it to (on a Saturday) in that area? I'd
appreciate it greatly.

TIA
Doug
