I had similar gas drips & smell after fueling on my old 85 Westy and I
ended up having to replace the gas tank crossover/evaporative hoses (one
and the same ? I don't recall).  It wasn't a big deal, except they had to
drop the fuel tank out to do it and that cost some bucks.
