It didn't use to do this. Is this a sign of impending doom? I did
tighten the alternaor belt which was a bit loose, but it didn't change
things. What esle should I check or is this not a problem?

I have an auxillary battery that has an isolator wired to the
refrigerator relay if that makes a difference. I don't seem to have any
electrical problems such as batteries going dead (yet?). Any thoughts
 anyone? TIA.

Hi Roy, temperarily remove the isolator from the charging system and see if
the problem is still there. If the problem is still there, than you need a
new alternator. There's something wrong with the diode in your alternator
currently. Stick with a BOSCH alternator if you can. Let us know what
happens.
