My fill valve was frozen shut, and couldnt be freed. Replacements were over
$75 as i recall and were an obsolete part(you go thru RV places rather than
VW for this stuff, BTW).
I replaced it with another valve that didn't have the feature that causes
it to burp back to tell the guy when it's full..it is a bit harder to fill
but it only cost $20 or thereabouts. Not recommending this because i am not
sure what safety considerations I may have bypassed(altho i think it is
limited to a bit more difficulty in filling the tank), but there you go.
