        I just wanted to thank everyone who responded to my querry about
replacing the clock with a tach.  I received a complete instrument cluster from
an '86 synchro.  I pulled my cluster, compared the pin layouts on the blue foil
circuit (Nice of VW to label them).  Everything matched perfectly.  I swapped
the clusters, turned on the key voila everything works!  I then pulled the new
cluster, and swapped my old speedo into the new cluster (to retain the miles on
my odometer).  The tach is nice to have. :)
