I had never heard of it either until I was advised to use Propylene Glycol
as a treatment for cracked heels.  When I asked for it at the pharmacy the
pharmacist said they kept it on hand as a base for custom made cough
syrups.  Obviously it is something you can ingest although I'm with Mark,
I'm sticking to milk on my Cheerios.
