I just checked catalog 58J, VW's, J.C. Whitney

They have an ignition module for $40 on page 24, but I did not see any ECU's.

I'm fairly certain that JC Whitney sells them "real cheap".
NOTE: they DON'T sell the ECU from 1986 on (ie. Digifants).
