I have the same problem. I have not found a cure. Waiting an hour, as
advised in Bentley, does not help. The whole panel seems dead.

I'll probably end up removing mine unfortunately. I did read in the Feb.
'98 VW Trends  that VW sells rebuilt radios for $60. Also a guy at the
local dealership said the radio is easy to remove with a special tool
they have at the dealership.

My E-mail was maxed out this week and I might not have received the fix
for this problem if one was posted. Please contact me if this is the
case.
